Rock Life is the game for fame-hungry rockstars! This game offers the same joy and entertainment that your average “Guitar Hero” game has, but with the power of mobility. After downloading the free app, you can take Rock Life with you wherever you want, because practice time is all the time! I contemplated downloading this on my phone, because I am not musically inclined, but after playing it for about 10 minutes I realized that I actually wasn’t doing too terrible! This game is easy-learning, so you can become a mobile rock-n-roll legend in no time.
Downloading the game wasn’t necessarily instant, but the initial start-up of the app was. The game takes you to their menu (with catchy rock instrumentals) where you can connect the app to your Facebook and play with your friends, or you could just fly solo for now. The game’s loading screen includes various tips and tricks to help you along your way. First timers have to select their character and then they get a free 15-second tutorial on how the game works, including the different techniques you can do with your guitar. After you have finished the tutorial, you are free to jam out to your heart’s content.

The only disappointment I’ve had with the game thus far is that the music you rock out to isn’t actual rock music like Led Zeppelin or Bon Jovi, but just your typical instrumental rock music. I personally think it would have been cool if they did integrate famous rock music performed by actual rock bands. If I was more of a rock-n-roll junkie, the small details like that would turn me off, but it is still a great game to play when you’re bored nonetheless.
Overall, I give this game a solid 7.5 out of 10. It’s a pretty good game, but I feel as if they missed the mark a little bit on this one. Some of the characters you can choose from are not exactly fit to be rockstars. For example, the character I chose looked like your typical Reggae listener. How is this guy related to Rock music what so ever? But what I did like about the game is that it does get more challenging the more you play, and if you find yourself stuck between a rock and a hard place, there are things you can do to earn help on certain songs. The game is user-friendly, easy-to-learn and a good time consumer.
