How to measure your career progress?
While I’m not the ardent fan of career progress in general since they get unique beneficial features after a while, I was intrigued in knowing about how to measure your career progress? In case you’ve got a job you adore in an industry you wish to work in. Even if that’s the case, you generally don’t want to stay in the same position forever.
There are some careers which have vivid progression routes. In others, the push might be up to you. Also if you’re not sure what’s open to you in your present job, have discussion with your manager. You can also talk through what better options are available in terms of training.
Of course you can find a mentor. Primarily the mentors can assist you identify and work on the skills you need to succeed at work. Moreover you’ll also have support if you’re having any difficulties. Secondly, you can use your appraisals. It is noted that feedback assists you to understand what you’re doing well and what you can improve. It’s also golden opportunity to set, or keep track of, development goals.
More importantly you can make a plan. So once you’ve identified some goals, start planning steps which could help you get there. It is also possible to know your industry. You can keep up to date with news reports and journals. Make yourself a go-to person for information – and wholly understand more about where you like to be. Finally it is the network where you can take time to meet people and make connections throughout your company. In addition you’ll get your face known and hear about great opportunities.
